Question: So friendship is the answer?

Note: This does not only apply to male/female abut also applies to relationships between heterosexuals and homosexuals, relationships amongst races, different religions, etc.

Question: I can understand this in light of individual relationships, but what about the big-picture inequality between man and woman, especially in cultures where women are treated as second-class citizens?

Illiterate people can easily be subjugated.

Question: Why is gender equality important in a marriage?

Respect for one another
